Good morning,
Today marks a full month since beginning this newsletter. In that time we’ve published 28 articles, gained over 600 subscribers, and amassed over 16 thousand views. I think we’re off to a pretty great start! While my caveman brain simply enjoys watching the numbers go up, I think these figures are indicative of a more important fact - our diocese is hungry for good, orthodox, Catholic content. Thank you for subscribing to our project and keep praying for us as we continue to strive to present the truth of our faith with charity and boldness.
Articles From This Week
This week we welcomed Dr. Nicole Allcock’s bioethics series entitled “Choices”. The series focuses on the moral and ethical dilemmas of modern medical science and offers a solid foundation for Catholics to navigate this complex domain. Future articles will explore topics such as contraception, in-vitro fertilization, transgenderism, physician-assisted suicide, and more.
When reflecting on the scriptures, I’m often struck by the kinds of people God calls. Abraham was an old man with a speech impediment. David was a lowly shepherd. Peter was an uneducated fisherman. Our latest article explores the life of St. John the Apostle who, by most accounts, was only fifteen when Jesus called him and his brother James.
Fr. Allen Kirchner in Springfield keeps sending us his homilies and, honestly. we sort of feel bad for him so we just keep posting them. Only kidding, Father! I’ll see you in confession Saturday - hey, that’s great advice for everyone. When’s the last time you’ve received the sacrament of confession, huh? Maybe take along this homily from our chaplain to read in the confession line. And come back this evening to see this weekend’s homily.
Articles Coming Next Week
Currently nothing on the docket for this coming week. While we’re on the subject, our “opinions” section is now open for submissions! Send your article to therubricnews@gmail.com and we’ll consider running it in our newsletter. This goes for any and all Catholics in our diocese or region so don’t be shy. Maybe you’ve read an excellent new book and want to give us your review. Maybe you’re starting a new ministry and want to let us know about the good work you’re doing. Maybe you’re a priest with too much time on your hands and want to send us your homilies. We’re not desperate or anything (but please help).
