Good morning
Today is Saturday, August 26th.
As we wrap up a full and exciting week here at The Rubric, we want to begin our Rundown with an outpouring of gratitude and appreciation to all of our subscribers. For years, my friends and I have talked about creating something like this to help our diocese grow and flourish. We knew that our region was home to many great Catholic thinkers - priests, religious, and lay people alike - and we wondered how we could elevate those voices to bring the truth, beauty, and goodness of our faith to a larger audience. After years of just talking about it we decided to finally do something. And so The Rubric was born.
We’re so grateful that you’ve chosen to be a part of our growing community. Thank you for all the kind comments and words of encouragement, and yes, even the criticisms. Please continue to pray for us and be assured of our prayers for you.
Articles From This Week
Our list of contributors continues to grow and so does the number of articles we release every week. In order to keep from overwhelming your email inbox, we try to only send out 1 or 2 emails a week. So continue to look for this section of The Rundown (and frequently check our website) for all the things you may have missed this week.
Articles Coming Next Week
Embarking on a fresh journey this week, we are excited to introduce a new series focusing on Catholic Bioethics, expertly crafted by Dr. Nicole Allcock. Dr. Allcock's academic journey includes earning her Pharm.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2002, followed by an M.S. in healthcare ethics from the University of Mary and the National Catholic Bioethics Center in 2020. Notably, she holds positions as a Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the National Catholic Bioethics Center. Dr. Allcock's professional background includes roles as a critical care pharmacist and a hospital pharmacy administrator – credentials that make her contribution to our series truly invaluable.
This captivating series, aptly named "Choices," is set to launch this upcoming Monday, August 28th. Be sure to keep a close watch on your emails as we delve into thought-provoking discussions under Dr. Allcock's insightful guidance. It's a privilege to have her on board as a contributor, and we're thrilled to share her expertise with all of you.
67 Years Young
On August 24th, we celebrated the 67th anniversary of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau.
Established in 1956, the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau covers a vast area of 25,719 square miles across 39 counties in southern Missouri. With 6 deaneries, 66 parishes, 26 schools, and 17 missions, we actively serve over 65,000 people.
Our Patron Saints are St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, The Lady of Mercy, and Pope St. Pius X, Pope of the Blessed Sacrament.
We extend a special thank you to the many Bishops, priests, religious, and laity that have dedicated their lives in service to the Church in our diocese!
Ending Our Novena
We extend our deepest gratitude to all of our readers for joining us in our Novena to St. Pius X. Our goal is to deliver faithful, challenging, Catholic content to our diocese and we’d never be able to to that without your prayers and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Please continue to pray for us and our mission and be assured of our prayers for each and every one of you.
